About Me

How Art has become a part of my life

Hi, I am Pam and Rustic Heart is a showcase of my creations. My roots are at the foot of Grandfather Mountain to the north of Greeneville, South Carolina. Even though I haven't lived there in a lifetime, the beauty of Appalachia still influences my heart and comforts my soul.

Every project, be it textile art, a painting, or a drawing, brings back fond childhood memories. As a young girl, I cut pieces for dutch doll quilts using patterns made from paper grocery bags. When my mother got a brand new Singer Golden Touch sewing machine in 1974. I, at nine years old, inherited her old Kenmore. I was fortunate enough to grow up surrounded by family that taught me crochet, embroidery, and sewing when I was very young.

Eventually, I was fortunate enough to turn my love of sewing into a successful business. Life being that it is, things change. We had to close up shop due to illness in January 2013. Later that year I lost my right leg.

So..... I was sitting around wondering, what now? My husband suggested that I take up drawing again. One thing led to another and I took up painting. Again one thing led to another and I discovered Society6, RedBubble, and Zazzle.I love seeing my art on everyday things like phone cases, and tote bags!

Then the hubby strikes again! I did a portrait of Clifford Allison for him as a Christmas gift. Then, on Facebook, I saw a the Las Vegas Portrait Project. I was so honored to be chosen to participate. You can read more about it here.

Life can throw up all kinds of obstacles. It's up to each individual to choose how we react. What may seem devastating can become the catalyst to change our lives for the better!

I hope you find something here to warm your heart and home. If not, I will gladly create something just for you! Just Contact me so we can discuss your unique creation!

God bless! And enjoy the bumps in the road, they make you slow down and enjoy the journey!
